Ubisoft has named Creative House 2 Massive Entertainment. Teams in Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto that develop Tom Clancy's The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and the original IP March of Giants now operate under that shared brand.
The announcement was posted on the Swedish studio's official site under the headline “The Next Chapter for Massive Entertainment.” The company says Massive remains part of Ubisoft, which continues to publish and distribute the games. There is no change to ongoing commitments to players or partners.
What actually changes
Creative Houses are the structure Ubisoft announced in late 2025 and detailed in January 2026. Instead of one company-wide setup, franchises and studios were grouped into houses responsible for the long-term growth of each brand. The first to receive its own name was Vantage Studios, a joint venture with Tencent, covering Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six.
Massive Entertainment was founded in Malmö, Sweden, in 1997 and acquired by Ubisoft in 2008. The studio made Ground Control, World in Conflict, The Division series, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws, plus the Snowdrop engine used across several Ubisoft titles. The name now covers more than the Swedish office: it is the global label for the house.
Who is in charge
General manager Christoph Hartmann, a 2K founder and former Amazon Game Studios executive, was appointed to lead Creative House 2 in June. In the statement, he says bringing the teams under one identity lets them combine creative energy from Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto for the next generation of these franchises and for new IPs.
March of Giants joined the portfolio after Ubisoft acquired the game from Amazon. The house had been built around competitive and co-op shooters; the new title also pulls original IP outside that lane.
GamesIndustry.biz notes that the other houses still lack equivalent names. Creative House 3, led by Julien Bares, covers Brawlhalla, For Honor, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones and The Crew. House 4, with no general manager announced, holds Anno, Beyond Good and Evil, Heroes of Might and Magic, Prince of Persia and Rayman. House 5, also under Bares, covers the Hasbro portfolio and mobile games.
