Sound System delays Early Access to November 4

The rhythm game Sound System will not enter Early Access on October 16. Echo Foundry Interactive has delayed the PC debut via Steam to November 4, 2026, a slip of about three weeks. The full launch is still planned later for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The announcement came this Thursday, October 1. In the release, co-founder Lennon Lange said the team hopes Sound System will bring families together the way rhythm games did 20 years ago.

What the game is

It is pitched as a next-generation rhythm game that works with guitar controllers people already own, plus a standard controller and a keyboard. Players can take guitar, bass, or vocals. Notes build combos and multipliers, and the whammy bar comes in on solos.

There are four difficulties, from Easy to Legendary. Classic mode does not fail the player; Pro limits misses. Up to three people can play on the same PC in split screen, as a band or head to head. The PulseMap editor uses Clone Hero's .chart format and can change backgrounds and the video behind the band.

The studio's material notes that many Guitar Hero riffs were recorded by guitarist Marcus Henderson, who is now tied to the project. That link is presented by Echo Foundry Interactive itself, not as a figure audited by a third party.

What changes in Early Access

Early Access is planned to last about six months. After launch, the studio intends to open uploads so players can use their own music. Online multiplayer, also for up to three people, waits for the full release. The Early Access price starts lower and rises as content arrives.

Geekiki had not covered Sound System. The date change is the new fact: anyone waiting for mid-October Early Access now has November 4 as the Steam milestone.
