Netflix will stream Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in the US from October 17

Netflix announced on Thursday, October 1, 2026, that it will stream the television anime Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. In the United States, the debut on the service is set for October 17. The series page on Netflix lists a start on October 14 in selected countries.

The announcement partly settles the question of the new version's first international streaming home. The series premieres in Japan on October 11 at 11:15 p.m. local time on Fuji TV and its affiliates. According to Anime News Network, the episode also arrives on Amazon Prime Video and other Japanese services 30 minutes after broadcast, at 12:15 a.m. The slot is the one occupied by the One Piece anime; that season's last episode aired on September 27, with a return planned for 2027.

What this version is

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is not a new arc after the Tournament of Power. It is an edition presented as an enhanced version of the Dragon Ball Super anime, with original work, story, and character designs by Akira Toriyama. Akio Iyoku described the project as a reconstruction of the story, with new cuts, redrawn scenes, newly recorded dubbing, new score and sound effects, and a full re-render of the footage.

The official statement talks about expressing Toriyama's idea and world more accurately, with an emphasis on the fights. The premise published by the staff returns to the awakening of Beerus, the God of Destruction, years after the battle against Majin Buu, when he hears of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza and appears before Goku. Koichi Yamadera returns as Beerus.

The opening is ONOGAMI, by MEGATERA・ZERO. The ending is Kan Peki No Peki, by VK Blanka. Staff includes Matsuto Seya (composition and direction arrangement), Tadayoshi Yamamuro (animation character design and general animation director), Eiichi Nishimura (editing), Yosuke Motoki (compositing director), and Norihito Sumitomo (music).

What is still open

Netflix did not detail, in the announcement cited by Anime News Network, whether episodes will arrive close to the Japanese broadcast or in a batch. There is also no confirmation that Brazil is among the October 14 countries. Crunchyroll, which streamed the original Dragon Ball Super, does not appear in this announcement.

Before the Japanese TV premiere, the first episode has an advance screening at the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus special panel at New York Comic Con on October 8.

The original Dragon Ball Super series aired from July 2015 to March 2018, with 131 episodes. The new version is the first television return of this Beerus-awakening arc in a reconstructed format, and Netflix is, so far, the first confirmed international window.
