Black Clover season 2 premieres on October 3, 2026 on TV Tokyo and affiliates, with streaming on Crunchyroll. Episode 171, the first of the new run, is titled “The Battle Begins” (Kaisen) and puts Asta back on screen after years off the air.
What happened?
Studio Pierrot is producing Black Clover season 2 again. Ayataka Tanemura directs, Keiichiro Ochi handles series composition, Itsuko Takeda designs the characters and Minako Seki writes the music. The opening is “Kienai Riyu” by WANIMA. The ending is “Yellow Brick Road” by One or Eight.
Crunchyroll announced Black Clover season 2 at Anime Expo in July 2025, with a teaser. A trailer arrived at Jump Festa '26 in December 2025, and another, already using the opening, appeared at Anime Expo in July 2026. The official site, Anime Corner and the Wikipedia season page confirm the October 3 premiere.
The Japanese broadcast is Saturday at 11 p.m. Tokyo time. Crunchyroll streams it as it airs and held an early theatrical screening in North America in September.
Why it matters
Black Clover, by Yuki Tabata, follows Asta, the boy without magic, and Yuno, the prodigy, as they aim for Wizard King. The first season ran 170 episodes and ended its regular broadcast in 2021. Black Clover season 2 picks up the war arc. The main visual shows Asta in devil-union form beside Yuno and Noelle.
The manga left Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2023 and continued in Jump GIGA. The adaptation arrives with the original already finished, which lowers the risk of the anime catching the printed story.
What changes in practice
Viewers who stopped in 2021 can resume Black Clover season 2 at episode 171, with no announced bridge film. The episode count is not officially confirmed. Saturday-by-Saturday schedules are estimates.
