Suikoden anime gets a free English-subtitled YouTube window starting October 6

The Suikoden anime is getting a free English-subtitled window on YouTube starting October 6, 2026. The official English channel announced the launch in a video on Saturday, with new episodes on Tuesdays, according to Anime News Network.

What happened?

The Suikoden anime adapts the story of Suikoden II, Konami's 1998 RPG. The series premiered on Tokyo MX on October 3 at 11:30 p.m. Japan time and is set to reach 31 other Japanese channels between October 6 and 9. The distribution update is separate from that TV debut: the English YouTube channel will publish free subtitled episodes beginning October 6.

ANN lists the window for North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Ireland, parts of Africa and the Middle East, plus Australia and New Zealand. Staff posted the full region list on the anime's English X account. Ani-One Asia has also licensed the series. Brazil is not named in ANN's list; viewers outside the stated regions may not see the video.

Why it matters

Suikoden II is one of the most cited PlayStation-era RPGs, built on the war between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States and the broken friendship of the hero and Jowy. Konami describes the two as members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade in a conflict that a truce failed to end. A free subtitled Suikoden anime days after the Japanese premiere shortens the wait for players of the Suikoden I and II HD Remaster, released in March 2025.

Production is at KONAMI animation. Yuzo Sato directs. Ryo Hino of NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan is the producer. Michihiro Tsuchiya oversees scripts. Anime character design is by Ryo Yamauchi, from drafts by Fumi Ishikawa and Arata Suzuki at Konami. Yoshikazu Iwanami is sound director and Koji Nakamura composes the music.

What changes in practice

Viewers in a covered region can start the Suikoden anime on YouTube on October 6 and return on Tuesdays. The announced cast includes Toshiki Kumagai as Riou (credited as Riliu in English coverage), Shimba Tsuchiya as Jowy, Ayumi Hinohara as Nanami, Katsuyuki Konishi as Viktor, Yuichi Nakamura as Flik and Taku Yashiro as Luca Blight.

  • English YouTube: from October 6, new episodes on Tuesdays, free and subtitled.
  • Japanese TV: Tokyo MX premiere on October 3; other channels between October 6 and 9.
  • Asia: Ani-One Asia license, separate from the YouTube window.
  • Related games: Suikoden I and II HD Remaster from March 2025; Star Leap, already on mobile in Japan since August 7, with an English release promised.

The free window does not replace a global paid simulcast, and geographic coverage is still partial. Source: Anime News Network, October 3, 2026.
