Xbox Helix and PS6: leaker says chips have taped out at 56 and 40 TFLOPS

Hardware leaker Kepler_L2 said in a NeoGAF thread that the graphics chips for PlayStation 6 and the next Xbox Helix (Project Helix) have reached tape-out. In the same remarks he put the PS6 GPU at about 40 TFLOPS and Helix at about 56 TFLOPS. Sony, Microsoft and AMD have not confirmed the numbers or the manufacturing milestone.

What happened?

Tape-out is the point at which a silicon design is frozen and sent to the foundry. It does not mean the console is finished. Outlets such as VideoCardz and TechSpot treat the claim as a rumor.

Both systems would use AMD Zen 6 family CPUs and RDNA 5 graphics, according to the same leak circuit. Microsoft has already said at GDC 2026 that Xbox Helix runs on a custom AMD SoC designed for the next generation of DirectX.

Why it matters

On paper, 56 TFLOPS versus 40 TFLOPS would be a roughly 40% theoretical edge for Xbox Helix. TFLOPS measure floating-point throughput, not frames per second.

What changes in practice

If tape-out is real, a late-2027 holiday window gains a little more weight than a 2028 launch. Until then, the only institutional fact is Xbox's own AMD SoC announcement for Xbox Helix.
