The cult classic P.T., Hideo Kojima’s “playable trailer” for the canceled Silent Hills, has received a native PC port. Independent developer Lorean Xavier rebuilt the game’s engine in C++ and Vulkan, loading levels, models, textures, sounds, scripts and cutscenes directly from the original PS4 files.
Unlike previous emulations or remakes, this is a native port that requires the user’s own legitimate copy of the game (PS4 PKG dump) to function. The project is open source (MIT) and available on GitHub. Xavier stated that he spent years studying P.T. and the Fox Engine and uses AI tools only for debugging and problem investigation.
Extra features
The PC version includes upscalers (DLSS, FSR, XeSS), frame generation, photo mode, experimental third-person and VR support, plus a “museum” section with assets and unused content. It runs on Windows, Linux and Steam Deck, with performance well above the original PS4’s 30 fps.
Since Konami removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store in 2015, the game has been restricted to PS4 consoles that still had the copy installed. The native port is an important step for preserving the teaser that marked a generation of horror gamers.
