No Man's Sky officially arrives on iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026, bringing the full space exploration universe from Hello Games to Apple mobile devices.
What happened?
Hello Games announced on Monday, October 12, that No Man's Sky will have a native version for iOS and iPadOS. Pre-orders are already open on the App Store as part of Apple's Indie Games Week. The release is set for October 28.
According to the studio's official post signed by Sean Murray, this is not a "Lite" version. The port includes the complete procedural universe and more than 40 major updates released since 2016, including the recent Cosmos and the 2025 Voyagers update that introduced customizable Corvette ships.
The game runs on iPhone 11 or newer and iPad Air 3rd generation or later. The download size is under 5 GB (around 3.8 to 4 GB according to reports). Multiplayer is not available at launch, and planetary Settlements are limited to iPhone 15 Pro or newer — similar limitations to the original Switch version.
Why is this important?
No Man's Sky has become one of the biggest turnaround stories in the games industry. After a problematic launch in 2016, the British indie studio delivered a decade of free updates that turned the title into a favorite for exploration and building.
Bringing this experience to players' pockets, with touch controls rebuilt from the ground up, controller support, mouse and keyboard on iPad, and battery and thermal optimization, represents a notable technical achievement. The universe is generated at runtime on the device itself.
What changes in practice?
Players will be able to explore, build, trade, and survive in No Man's Sky's procedural universe directly on their phone or tablet. The beginning of the game is free to try; unlocking the full experience costs $19.99. There is support for casting to TV.
The studio states it invested heavily in battery life and thermal management for long, comfortable sessions. Depending on reception, features like multiplayer may arrive later, as happened on Switch.
Android still has no announced date.
