Nintendo Switch 2 gets a Japan-only bundle with one free game for 63,980 yen

Nintendo announced on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, a Japan-only Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with one game of the buyer's choice. The set goes on sale November 12 for 63,980 yen, tax included.

What happened?

The official corporate release describes the package as the “Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese, domestic use) choose-a-game set.” Besides the console and standard accessories, the box includes a download code for the eShop.

The buyer picks one of these three titles at no extra cost:

  • Mario Kart World, a Nintendo Switch 2 game;
  • Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, also for Nintendo Switch 2;
  • Tomodachi Collection: Wakuwaku Life, a title for the original Switch.

The code is valid until March 31, 2027. Redeeming it requires a Nintendo Account and an internet connection. Nintendo stresses that the hardware is the Japanese, domestic-use version.

The set includes the Nintendo Switch 2 console, left and right Joy-Con 2, straps, dock, grip, power adapter, USB-C cable, ultra-high-speed HDMI cable, and the leaflet with the code.

Why it matters

Bundles with a free game are a classic Nintendo tool for moving hardware around busy retail dates in Japan. November sits between the end of the national holiday period and the year-end gift season.

The lineup mixes two Nintendo Switch 2 releases with a title from the previous console. Mario Kart World is the obvious draw for anyone who does not own the system yet. Switch Sports Resort expands the party catalog. Tomodachi Collection, Nintendo's friends-life series, suits buyers who want a lighter social game already available on the original Switch.

The 63,980 yen figure is the suggested retail price of the set, not a temporary store discount. The company did not say in the release whether an equivalent pack will ship outside Japan. The Japanese domestic hardware also does not replace a global price announcement.

What changes in practice

Anyone buying in Japan from November 12 gets the full hardware and one game redeemed on the eShop. There is no physical game cartridge in the box: redemption is digital. Missing the March 31, 2027 deadline means losing the code benefit.

The set was not announced for Brazil or other regions. Importing the Japanese version remains subject to region, warranty, and language rules for the included software. The primary source is Nintendo's October 6, 2026 release.
