The Huawei Mate 90 arrived on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at a Huawei event in Shanghai. The Huawei Mate 90 line has five models — Huawei Mate 90, Mate 90 Pro, Mate 90 Pro Max, the Pro Max Collector's Edition, and the Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design — priced from 5,999 to 12,999 yuan, about US$895 to US$1,939.
The base Huawei Mate 90 uses the Kirin 9030 chip, HarmonyOS 7, and a 6,600 mAh battery. Sales of the Huawei Mate 90 started the same day in China.
What Huawei announced
According to TechNode, Huawei says overall performance of the Huawei Mate 90 with Kirin 9030 is 27% above the previous-generation Mate 80. The Mate 90 Pro uses the Kirin 9035, aimed at balancing performance and power: the company says battery life is up 18% versus the prior generation.
Mate 90 Pro Max and higher models in the Huawei Mate 90 line use the Kirin 9050 Pro. Huawei describes a logic-stacking architecture with 5 million signal bonds and 125 TB/s of inter-die bandwidth. The company says overall performance rises 31% and on-device AI compute doubles. Those percentages are manufacturer claims, still without broad independent benchmarks.

Why the Huawei Mate 90 matters
The Huawei Mate 90 is Huawei's annual flagship at a moment when Kirin is again the line's central argument. For a geek audience, the point is the bet on on-device AI and in-house chips. What still needs confirmation is how much of the claimed 27% to 31% gain shows up in third-party tests.
