Summer Eternal, the studio founded by Disco Elysium veterans, today (October 14, 2026) revealed its first major project: Red Rooster, described as an “incendiary, physics-driven RPG.”
What is Red Rooster?
Players take on the role of Redrick Roost, a white-collar inmate thrust into the role of an arson investigator. He partners with an opiate-dependent mathematician to investigate a string of arsons that seem to point directly to his brother, the city’s fire chief.
Set in the fictional city of Arta-Tantor — a “fractalised border archipelago” with strong political undertones, alternate history and science-fiction elements — the game promises reactive worlds where objects can be moved, manipulated and burned. The team wants players to “exert your physical existence” upon the environment.
Differentiation and inspirations
Summer Eternal is clear that this is not a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium nor a “Disco-like.” The game will be third-person, 3D, with dynamic camera movement, breaking away from isometric constraints. It combines the worldbuilding richness of cerebral RPGs with the genetics of physics-driven immersive sims.
The project is nearing the end of pre-production, already has an internal playable tech demo and is being built in Unreal Engine. It will launch first on PC, with PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 versions planned later. No release date has been announced.
Revealed via physical book
The reveal came with the Summer Eternal Anthology Volume One, a 500-page book of concept art, design and worldbuilding. The Deluxe edition includes a 10-inch vinyl with four soundtrack tracks. The Zagreb-based studio uses a worker- and player-owned model.
