Kakao Games' new MMORPG, World of Dokkaebi, has reached second place in revenue on both Google Play and the Apple App Store in South Korea, just a few days after its official launch on October 8, 2026.
What happened?
Developed by Supercat and published by Kakao Games, the game based on the Naver web novel and webtoon Myeolgwi Sudojeon (a Korean-style cultivation fantasy) rose quickly in the rankings. It hit 1st in popularity on Google Play on launch day and on the App Store during pre-downloads. In revenue, it reached 2nd on both stores, with Google Play confirming the position on October 11.
The title holds a 4.6-star rating on Google Play with over 10,000 reviews, among the highest in the genre.
Game features
World of Dokkaebi uses 2D pixel art combined with 3D backgrounds, inspired by traditional Korean elements such as tiled roofs, lanterns, and dokkaebi (goblins). It has no fixed classes: players combine 12 skill styles in a deck-building system to create personalized builds. It focuses on cooperative gameplay, and player feedback was incorporated, such as cosmetics without stat bonuses and a 30-day membership.
Why it matters
Kakao Games had been facing consecutive operating losses and saw Q4 as a recovery period with new launches. The rapid success of World of Dokkaebi (faster than Supercat's previous game, Kingdom of the Winds: Yeon, which took 8 days for the same ranking) signals turnaround potential, with plans for global expansion in the future.
