Official Windows 11 26H2 ISO arrives as build 26300.9457

The official Windows 11 26H2 ISO is now available to download. According to IT Home, Microsoft's download page began offering build 26300.9457 on October 1, 2026, a day after the update started arriving through Windows Update. The image is meant for a clean install, an in-place upgrade or a repair.

What changes in practice

Anyone already on Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2, and meeting the hardware and software requirements, can move to 26H2 with an enablement package. IT Home points to KB5121794 for that path, for both x64 and Arm64. The package is the shortcut: it switches on features already present in the system base and avoids downloading a full image.

The Windows 11 26H2 ISO is the fuller route. It can wipe a machine, build a virtual machine or recover a broken install. Microsoft publishes separate files for x64 processors, from Intel and AMD, and for Arm64. The official download page is the same one used for earlier versions: microsoft.com/software-download/windows11. Direct links generated on that page expire in about 24 hours, so the stable address is Microsoft's own page, not a mirrored file.

What this is not

The consumer Windows 11 26H2 ISO build 26300.9457 should not be confused with the enterprise evaluation image Microsoft released in September. That test image, also numbered 26300.9457 in an evaluation package, was aimed at IT administrators and could be used free for 90 days. For a regular user, the recommended channel is still Windows Update, the Installation Assistant or the ISO from the official page.

Updated preview builds can show a number higher than 26300.9457. IT Home lists 26300.9457 as the stable version tied to the image in this wave. Anyone who only wants the system for daily use does not need to hunt for the ISO: Windows Update delivers the same 26H2 when the PC reaches the front of the queue.

Why it matters

26H2 is the 2026 annual update for Windows 11. Having the Windows 11 26H2 ISO changes the pace for anyone who maintains several PCs, builds install USB drives or needs to reinstall without waiting in the Windows Update queue. This announcement does not add a new list of exclusive features beyond what the update already delivers through the normal channel.
