The Witcher 3 Remastered ships as a free update of about 45 GB on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 29, 2026. CD Projekt RED community director Marcin Momot posted the figures on X after players asked about the package size.
The Witcher 3 Remastered file size by platform
The Witcher 3 Remastered download is about 45 GB on Steam, PS5 and Xbox. On PC it varies with language packs. The native Nintendo Switch 2 build needs about 50 GB. That 45 GB is the update package, not the permanent extra disk use. The current Complete Edition on PC is around 51 GB, so temporary free space during install will be higher.
What changes in the game
Owners on qualifying platforms get the remaster at no extra charge. Official notes list improved visuals, tuned combat and movement, new Sign effects, revised horse handling, richer monster behavior, a revamped skill tree, armor transmog, expanded photo mode and new finishers.
PC also gets DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, XeSS 2.0, path tracing and ray reconstruction. There is PS5 Pro support, Xbox Play Anywhere and Switch 2 exclusive features. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included for all base-game owners.
Switch 2, Battle.net and Songs of the Past
Switch 1 does not get an in-place remaster. The Switch 2 native SKU is sold separately, with a free upgrade for existing owners. The Witcher 3 Remastered also launches on Battle.net the same day. The Songs of the Past expansion, set in Letten, remains slated for 2027 ahead of The Witcher 4.
