Suikoden STAR LEAP Chapter 3 Drops Sept 24 with Champia & Rokkaku Village

Suikoden STAR LEAP is receiving its first major main story expansion since launch this Thursday, September 24. Konami confirmed at TGS 2026 that Chapter 3 unlocks two brand-new regions—the isolated land of Champia and Rokkaku Village—while welcoming back familiar faces from Suikoden II.

What Happens in Chapter 3?

The mobile game, which launched in Japan on August 7, paused right at the start of Chapter 3. The September 24 update continues the narrative in the solar calendar year 458, as the group seeks an alliance with Champia to face a formidable enemy organization.

Champia is an enclave sealed off by runes, featuring strict rules, a unique dance culture, and its own ecosystem—complete with fish that swim in the sky, according to the official trailer. Around the same time, the map opens up to Rokkaku Village, home to the series' classic ninjas.

In Konami's trailer, the party arrives in Champia only to be defeated by Tenryu, one of the "Three Great Guides." Their way out relies on a secret plan and local training.

Who Joins the Story

Konami introduced new names alongside returning characters from Suikoden II:

  • Lachana (CV: Minami Tsuda) — A Senren temple instructor who is affectionate yet unfamiliar with the outside world;
  • Bubu (CV: Yuki Yonai) — A young companion traveling with her;
  • Vaval (CV: Tomokazu Sugita);
  • Tsubaki (CV: Ai Kureha) — Vice-leader of the Rokkaku ninjas;
  • Sasuke (CV: Koki Osuzu) and Kasumi (CV: Miyu Ayase), beloved veterans from the franchise's second generation.

A character theme song for Lachana is slated for release by the end of September.

What This Means in Practice

For players in Japan, this marks the first major story block after roughly a month and a half of waiting. Login bonuses will include Fantasy Stones (the premium currency), and starting September 30, a special login event will distribute the anime-tie-in SSR character, Nanami.

In November, the game will host a crossover event with the Suikoden anime, which is scheduled to run for two cours starting in October. The event covers the prelude of Riou and Jowy—the protagonists of the animated adaptation, based on Suikoden II.

Why It Matters

Suikoden STAR LEAP is the series' first canonical entry in 14 years and its first official mobile title. Set in the same universe as the classics, it centers around the Rune of Change and features a brand-new cast of 108 stars brought to life in updated pixel art.

The global version for iOS, Android, and PC (Steam) does not have a release date yet. Konami stated at TGS that the international launch and Steam version are currently in preparation.

During the same presentation, the company confirmed a two-part stage adaptation of Suikoden II, with the first part ("Dunan Unification War") premiering in July 2027 in Tokyo and Osaka, starring Toshiki Kumagai—the voice of Riou in the anime—in the lead role.
