A new report indicates that the GTA 6 PC version could arrive as early as the first quarter of 2027, just a few months after the console launch on November 19, 2026. An early GTA 6 PC release would surprise many players used to long waits.
What happened?
According to GamesBeat, four industry sources familiar with Rockstar's plans said the publisher intends to release the GTA 6 PC version between January and March 2027. Rockstar has not officially confirmed the information. This would be a much shorter gap than seen with GTA 5 (around 18 months) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (around 11 months).
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launch remains set for November 19. The report suggests Rockstar may be prioritizing GTA 6 PC earlier to align with the multiplayer mode, which is also expected in 2027.
Why does this matter?
PC is an increasingly relevant platform for Take-Two and Rockstar. An early GTA 6 PC launch would reduce console exclusivity and allow PC players to enter the world of Leonida and Vice City shortly after consoles. It would also reduce pressure from unofficial ports and AI decompilations that have recently appeared.
What changes in practice?
If confirmed, PC players would not have to wait more than a year as happened with GTA 5 to play GTA 6 PC. Still, the information is an unofficial report. Rockstar usually announces PC dates in advance, so it is prudent to wait for official confirmation.
