Valve said the Steam Discounts & Events section will move from a manual calendar to dynamic, personalized recommendations in early 2027. The note went live on the Steamworks Development hub on September 29, 2026.
What changes
Daily, Midweek and Weekend Deals currently fill a fixed number of slots booked by Valve or partners. Tests that swapped some of those slots for personalized picks showed 10 times more games in the section per day, plus more store visits, wishlists and cart adds, Valve says.
Not dynamic pricing
Discount amounts stay identical for every account. The algorithm only chooses which live deals appear on your homepage. Existing curated bookings are honored; new ones in that section are paused.
