The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ are Samsung's first premium tablets with MediaTek's Dimensity 9500. Sales of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra start October 7 in selected markets, with One UI 9 on Android 17 and seven years of updates.
What happened?
120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X: 14.6 inches on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and 12.6 inches on the S12+. The Ultra is 5.1 mm thick and about 692 g (Wi-Fi). Batteries are 11,600 mAh and 10,600 mAh with 45W charging.
Samsung cites up to 19% CPU, 17% GPU and 61% NPU gains versus the Tab S11 Ultra. Configs start at 12 GB / 256 GB; the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra reaches 16 GB / 1 TB plus microSD to 2 TB. Both are IP68 with S Pen, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
Why it matters
Tab S flagships long used Qualcomm. Moving to MediaTek changes supply and Galaxy AI positioning on tablets. Seven years of support matches Galaxy phones and puts the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra against iPad Pro and other AI-focused slates.
In practice
Reported prices start near US$1,199 / €1,329 for the S12+ and US$1,399 / €1,569 for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. Treat Dimensity 9500 as the new performance floor, not an automatic downgrade.
