Steam revenue could close 2026 above $20 billion, according to Alinea Analytics estimates published on October 4. It would be the first year Valve's store clears that line. These are not official Valve accounts.
What happened?
Alinea puts Steam revenue at about $1.7 billion in September 2026, 13% above the previous September record. Third-quarter revenue is estimated at $5.5 billion. Through the first nine months, the estimate is $16.5 billion, versus $14.5 billion in 2025.
The platform would need about $3.5 billion in the fourth quarter to pass $20 billion. TechSpot reported the Alinea figures the same day.
Why it matters
PC players are still spending on games even as memory and graphics cards get more expensive. New paid games create spikes, while free-to-play titles keep cash flowing through digital items.
What changes in practice?
Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, PUBG and Dota 2 together generated almost $168 million in September. Wardogs is estimated at $86.9 million in roughly three weeks of Early Access. Confirmation only comes if the fourth quarter holds the pace. Valve does not publish these totals.
