No Man's Sky iOS arrives on iPhone and iPad on October 28 with the full universe

Hello Games announced on October 12, 2026 that the No Man's Sky iOS version will arrive on iPhone and iPad on October 28, bringing the game's full procedural universe to Apple mobile devices.

According to the official statement on the developer's site, signed by Sean Murray, this is not a "Lite" version. The port includes the runtime-generated universe and more than forty major updates since the original 2016 launch, including the recent Cosmos and 2025's Voyagers, which allowed the construction of larger ships.

What the player finds

The game runs on devices from the iPhone 11 and 3rd-generation iPad Air onward. The download size is under 4-5 GB, notable for a title with large-scale procedural planet generation.

Touch controls were rebuilt from the ground up to fit the inventory- and crafting-heavy interface. There is also support for external controllers, TV casting, and, on iPad, mouse and keyboard. The team highlighted work on battery life and thermodynamics for long sessions.

There are limitations at launch, similar to the original Switch port: multiplayer is not available, and Planetary Settlements work only on iPhone 15 Pro and later. Hello Games indicates that future support will depend on feedback and player numbers, as happened on the path to Switch 2.

Why it matters

No Man's Sky went through one of the industry's most cited redemptions, from a controversial 2016 launch to a continuously expanded and well-received title. Bringing that complete experience to the pocket, with universe generation on the device itself, is a relevant technical achievement for mobile.

Murray mentioned that part of the optimization came from work on Hello Games' next title, Light No Fire. The port is part of Apple's App Store Indie Games Week. At launch it will be free to try the beginning, with a one-time purchase unlocking the rest.

Pre-orders are already open on the App Store.
