Viz Media confirmed that the Naruto franchise will get a new limited TV series. Official details are reserved for the NARUTO: What's Next? panel at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026.
What was announced
The project is described as a limited television series, not a film. Viz has not yet disclosed episode count, story scope or a premiere date. Earlier reports of an animated movie were not confirmed by the publisher.
NYCC panel
The stage runs at the Javits Center Empire Stage from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. New York time. A worldwide livestream will air on the official NARUTO/BORUTO YouTube channel. In Japan the stream runs from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. on October 11.
Confirmed guests include Junko Takeuchi (Naruto), Noriaki Sugiyama (Sasuke) and Pierrot Films executive producer Yoshihiro Tominaga. The panel is also expected to update the Naruto card game planned for 2027.
Why it matters
The panel date matches Naruto Uzumaki's canonical birthday. Original voice actors and Pierrot on stage point to an official franchise beat, alongside Lionsgate's live-action casting search and the Boruto spin-off.
Masashi Kishimoto's manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014. It is still unclear whether the limited series revisits the original, ties into Boruto or tells a separate story.
