Capcom confirmed on Wednesday that the Prologue Demo of Monster Hunter Wilds arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 19, 2026 (October 20 UK time). The official announcement was made by the @monsterhunter account on X.
The demo is free and lets players experience the beginning of the story — including character creation — up to Chapter 1-3: To the Forest. Saved progress can be transferred to the full version of the game, which arrives on Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.
What the demo offers
In addition to the evolved hunting action and immersion in the Forbidden Lands, the Switch 2 version of the demo supports local multiplayer. Online multiplayer is not available. Digital pre-orders for the full version also open on the same day as the demo launch.
The demo was already available for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Its arrival on Switch 2 lets players on Nintendo’s new platform try the game before the official release and carry over their save.
Context
Monster Hunter Wilds is already available on other platforms and will receive the Ascendance expansion in 2027. The Switch 2 version includes cross-play and Game-Key Card support. The demo provides an accessible entry point for those who want to test the hunting pace and weapon systems before buying.
