2026 Asian Games LoL: South Korea sweeps Taipei 3-0 for gold

The 2026 Asian Games LoL tournament ended with South Korea on gold and an undefeated run. In the final, played Friday, October 2, at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, the national team swept Chinese Taipei 3-0.

The three games of the best-of-five ended in about 34, 34 and 30 minutes. It is Korea’s second straight title in the event after gold in Hangzhou in 2023. The country did not drop a single map: it went 3-0 in groups, beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the semifinal and confirmed the repeat title in the final.

Who played the final

The deciding lineup was Zeus in top, Canyon in the jungle, Zeka in mid, Gumayusi in bot and Keria in support. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok was on the roster but did not play the final. According to Insider Gaming, Faker later said he took a role closer to coaching and only played against India in the group stage, sharing mid with Zeka for the rest of the run.

The gold is the second Asian Games medal for Faker, Zeus and Keria. Canyon, Zeka and Gumayusi won their first gold at the event. In South Korea, Asian Games gold is the known route to an exemption from mandatory military service, and outlets such as Insider Gaming and the Seoul Economic Daily treated the flawless campaign as the close of that race.

The road to the final

After a 3-0 group, with Zeka and Faker sharing mid, Korea faced Saudi Arabia in the semifinal and advanced 2-0. Chinese Taipei, with JunJia, HongQ and Doggo, had already lost to Korea in the group-stage opener, a best-of-one, and returned as the final opponent. Without China in the bracket, it was the toughest match of the tournament.

Why it matters

The 2026 Asian Games LoL result reinforces Korea’s dominance in national-team LoL and puts Canyon, Zeka and Gumayusi among the players who, under the rule tied to gold, no longer depend on the military draft lottery. Faker, Zeus and Keria already had Hangzhou gold.

Final coverage was reported by the Seoul Economic Daily, Insider Gaming and News of Legends.
