Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet will only be fully revealed in 2027. Studio head Neil Druckmann shared the update at the close of The Last of Us Day 2026 on Naughty Dog's official blog.
What happened?
Druckmann called Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet Naughty Dog's most ambitious project yet and asked for more time. The studio will stay quiet for the rest of 2026. In 2027 it plans a full reveal of Jordan A. Mun's adventure on Sempiria.
The game was announced in December 2024 for PlayStation 5. Jordan is a bounty hunter stranded on a world that went dark centuries ago. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are scoring it. New concept art of the protagonist on Sempiria's surface accompanied the note.
Why it matters
Almost two years have passed since the debut trailer of Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet. Naughty Dog typically holds back until a title is close to launch. In the same post, Druckmann confirmed two new The Last of Us projects in very early stages that will expand the canon beyond Part I and Part II, with no format or date yet.
What changes in practice
Anyone hoping for a 2026 State of Play or The Game Awards showing should reset expectations. On Sony's near-term calendar, God of War Laufey (pre-orders for February 16, 2027) has the spotlight. Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet remains the studio's next big original on PS5.
