Guns of Eschaton demo lands on Steam as a soulslike FPS in the Old West

The Guns of Eschaton demo reached Steam on October 5, 2026. The Eschatology Entertainment game, published by 4Divinity, is a first-person shooter with soulslike structure set in an apocalyptic Old West. The free build is already downloadable and, on launch day, had 42 reviews, 73% of them positive.

What happened?

The studio confirmed on the Steam page that the demo is available now. It is not the opening chapter of the campaign: it is a standalone adventure built to show the world, combat, weapons and core systems. The full game still has no date and is planned for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Visual direction carries the signature of Viktor Antonov, art director of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored and co-founder of Eschatology Entertainment. Antonov died in 2025; the publisher and studio treat Guns of Eschaton as the last project shaped by that vision.

Why it matters

Soulslike design is usually tied to melee combat. Here the idea is different: every bullet counts, the revolver cylinder becomes part of the fight plan, and the player has to study anatomy, weak points and enemy behavior. The official page describes the setting as a 19th-century America devastated by an event called The Burning.

  • The demo is free on Steam and does not represent the start of the campaign.
  • The full game promises more than 20 weapons, a solo or co-op campaign and an optional PvP mode.
  • Interface and subtitles include Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Minimum specs cited for the full game ask for a GTX 1070 or RX Vega 56, 16 GB of RAM and an SSD.

What changes in practice?

Anyone who wants to try it does not need to wait for Steam Next Fest, set for October 19 to 26: the demo is already live and the publisher says it remains available at least through the end of the festival. The demo page is at store.steampowered.com. The full game still has no confirmed release window.
