NVIDIA announced that DLSS 5 Hogwarts Legacy will receive official support on November 5, 2026. The update includes the new 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model, now 2x faster and with 20% less VRAM usage at 4K. DLSS 5 Hogwarts Legacy promises to elevate the visual quality of the Harry Potter RPG.
What happened?
In a GeForce blog post, NVIDIA detailed the October update for DLSS 5, which reduces the neural model by 24% to roughly 118 million parameters. This cuts GPU overhead in half compared to the September version while maintaining comparable visual fidelity. The new model debuts in NBA 2K27 on October 16 and arrives in Hogwarts Legacy on November 5 for RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark. More information in the official NVIDIA announcement about DLSS 5 Hogwarts Legacy.
Avalanche Software, the game's developer, used the DLSS 5 SDK controls to tune the integration and preserve the original artistic style. The published comparisons show subtler changes to faces and lighting than the initial March demos for DLSS 5 Hogwarts Legacy.
Why does this matter?
DLSS 5 represents NVIDIA's biggest advance in graphics since real-time ray tracing, using AI to generate photorealistic lighting and materials. With the lighter model, more players can enable the technology without major performance impact. Hogwarts Legacy, with over 40 million copies sold, is one of the most anticipated titles to receive the DLSS 5 Hogwarts Legacy upgrade.
What changes in practice?
Owners of GeForce RTX 50 Series will see improvements in materials, shadows, and lighting in the magical world of Hogwarts starting November 5 with DLSS 5 Hogwarts Legacy. The game already supports Multi Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction; the update upgrades these technologies and adds Neural Rendering. Where Winds Meet also receives DLSS 5 at the end of November, and RTX Remix gains support on October 23.
