Xiaomi has disclosed, during the 2026 World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, new progress for its humanoid robot in two settings: the factory and the home. According to a report published on November 3 based on IT Home, the robot completed an 8-hour shift at a control-panel side-panel sorting station, autonomously correcting anomalies and coordinating with the production-line system.
In the home scenario, an agent system built on the Xiaomi-Robotics-1 pre-trained model began a trial at the Xiaomi Youth Apartments. The long task lasted more than 30 minutes, spanned three rooms and covered more than 50 tasks. According to the same report, the model was pre-trained on 100,000 hours of real-world operating trajectories and ranked first overall in July on the RoboCasa 365 and RoboDojo leaderboards.
At the same conference, Xiaomi also received two awards: the Outstanding Contribution Award, for the group, and the Leading Technology Award, for key technologies of general-purpose robotic manipulation foundation models for scalable deployment. The performance figures are company statements and reports about them, not independently verified results — an important distinction for robotics in real environments.
Context helps size the announcement. The new robot generation was unveiled in August 2026 at the World Robot Conference in Beijing, after about four months of training at Xiaomi's electric-vehicle factory. Earlier reports cite a height of 1.70 metres, a weight of 66 kilograms and 66 degrees of freedom, plus an improvement in nut-installation success from 90.2% to 98% and 90% in panel sorting. Xiaomi president Lu Weibing has said the robot is not planned as a standalone product, but as part of the ecosystem connecting people, cars and homes.
In short, the 8-hour shift and the long home task are signs of operational maturity, not the announcement of a product for sale. The real next test will be consistently repeating these tasks outside controlled demonstrations, with auditable metrics over time.
