The Xbox Helix 56 TFLOPS rumor is back: KeplerL2 says both next-gen SoCs have taped out, with Helix at 56 TFLOPS and PS6 at 40 TFLOPS on RDNA 5. TechSpot and VideoCardz carried it. Microsoft, Sony and AMD have not confirmed.
What happened?
Tape-out freezes a chip for the fab. KeplerL2 puts both designs on Zen 6 CPUs and RDNA 5 GPUs and rejects 80 TFLOPS PS6 estimates. He calls 40 TFLOPS the FMA throughput number.
Secondary reports cast Helix as chiplets and PS6 as more monolithic, plus an Xbox NPU up to 110 TOPS. Older ~30 GB GDDR7 talk for PS6 is still unofficial.
Why it matters
If tape-out is real, late 2027 looks more plausible than 2028. Sony’s CEO still says the PS6 date is unset. TFLOPS are not fps. PS5 is 10.28 TFLOPS; Series X about 12. Both jumps would still be large.
What changes now
Nothing in stores. Treat Xbox Helix 56 TFLOPS as a tracked rumor until an official demo or AMD paper appears.
