World of Dokkaebi opens pre-download and launches October 8 on PC and mobile

World of Dokkaebi is already in pre-download on PC and mobile. Kakao Games opened early installs at 11 a.m. on October 6, Korea time, and set the official launch for October 8, also at 11 a.m. The report comes from Inven Global.

What the game is

World of Dokkaebi is a 2.5D MMORPG developed by Supercat and published by Kakao Games. The look mixes 2D pixel-art characters with 3D backgrounds, a style the studio presents as a nod to traditional Korean visual sensibility. The core system is called Dosul, Taoist magic, and the official site gathers gameplay videos and explanations of that system.

It is based on the Korean IP Myeolgwi Sudojeon, known in English as The Tale of Cultivation and Demon Extermination, already a Naver web novel and webtoon. A dokkaebi, in Korean folklore, is a mischievous spirit, and the game uses that imagery as the backdrop of its world.

How to download before launch

On PC, pre-download goes through Google Play Games: the player installs the app from the official site and downloads the launcher there. On mobile, the title is already on Google Play and the App Store. The pre-download window runs until Thursday's launch.

Why it matters

The launch lands in a week packed with global releases, but it comes from a major Korean publisher and an IP already known in Naver's webtoon ecosystem. Price, monetization and servers outside Korea are not confirmed in the material cited by Inven. Until Kakao details regions and languages, World of Dokkaebi should be treated as an October 8 launch on PC and mobile, with pre-download already open.
