Windows 11 8GB: Microsoft makes system up to 20% more responsive with better memory management

What happened?

Microsoft announced improvements to Windows 11 8GB that make the system up to 20% more responsive. The changes focus on memory management and are especially useful on PCs with 8GB of RAM.

According to the company, Windows 11 8GB can now keep up to 2GB more active data in memory instead of sending it to slower storage. On machines with 8GB or less, Widgets only load when opened, freeing more than 200MB.

Why is this important?

Many entry-level notebooks and PCs still use 8GB of RAM. The improvements to Windows 11 8GB reduce stuttering when opening apps, browser tabs, or using File Explorer, Start, and Search.

The comparison was made between Insider builds, and part of the optimizations is already reaching the general public via updates. Reports from The Verge and Microsoft's official blog confirm the data.

What changes in practice?

Users of low-memory PCs should notice a snappier system in daily use. Apps like Photos, Edge, and Microsoft 365 also benefit from the changes in Windows 11 8GB. The optimizations are part of Microsoft's ongoing effort.
