Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun 2 launches today for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series

What happened?

Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun 2 officially launches today, October 14, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The title is the sequel to the 2023 retro FPS developed by Auroch Digital and published by Big Fan Games (Devolver Digital). A Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for later.

The game lets you play as Ultramarine Malum Caedo, returning from the first title, or the new Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath. The campaign is branching, with new enemies from the four Chaos factions, including the demigod Vashtorr the Arkifane, and a boss soundtrack featuring Mick Gordon, known from DOOM.

Why is this important?

Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun 2 continues the trend of retro shooters (boomer shooters) in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, mixing fast action, pixel art and the grimdark of Games Workshop. Launch price is US$24.99, with a 10% pre-purchase discount until launch. A demo was already available on Steam. Learn more on the official Steam page.

What changes in practice?

Players get two distinct combat styles in Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun 2: Malum’s heavier and more resilient one and Nyra’s agile approach. The game is single-player, with Steam Deck Verified support, and brings more weapons, locations and enemies. Source: Steam and official announcements from Auroch Digital / Big Fan Games.
