Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 launches today with Mick Gordon soundtrack and new playable character

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 officially arrived on October 14, 2026 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game, developed by Auroch Digital and published by Big Fan Games (a Devolver Digital label), is the direct sequel to the 2023 retro FPS that mixed the grimdark Warhammer 40,000 universe with boomer shooter action.

What's new

The campaign is branching and takes players to new worlds. The protagonists are the returning Ultramarine Malum Caedo and the new Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath. The antagonist is Vashtorr the Arkifane, a Chaos demigod. There are more than 40 new enemies from the four Chaos factions (Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne and Slaanesh), expanded weapons and more complex boss encounters.

A highlight is the final boss soundtrack composed by Mick Gordon, known for DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstein: The New Order. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for later, with no set date.

Why it matters

Boltgun was well received by the retro shooter community and Warhammer fans. The sequel arrives on the same day as other game launches, reinforcing the niche of pixelated, high-speed FPS amid big AAA titles. The price is around US$24.99, with a pre-purchase discount.
