Visa creates six global tech hubs in Singapore focused on AI, stablecoins and quantum computing

Visa announced on Thursday (November 5) the creation of six global tech hubs in Singapore, based at the company's new Solution Center in Paya Lebar Green. The centre will bring together more than 1,500 professionals across technology, product development, cybersecurity, engineering and innovation, to build technologies for payments and commerce for Visa's global network.

Three domains: AI, payments and security

The six global tech hubs are organised around three strategic domains. In AI and Commerce, teams will develop applied AI for payments and fintech and advance agentic commerce — where AI agents interact securely with consumers, merchants and payment networks. In Next-Generation Payments, the focus is research into digital money, stablecoins and programmable payments, alongside digital wallets and alternative payment methods. In Trust, Security and Resilience, the work is to strengthen cybersecurity and research applications of quantum computing for financial services, including preparing for a quantum-secure future.

According to the company, the global tech hubs reinforce Singapore's central role in Visa's mission for nearly five decades. “We're entering an extraordinary period of commerce innovation, driven by AI, digital money and other emerging technologies,” said Rajat Taneja, President, Technology, Visa. “Our expanded presence in Singapore will bring together great talent, deep expertise, and trusted infrastructure to build new commerce experiences around the world.”

Stephen Karpin, Regional President, Asia Pacific, Visa, said many of the world's most complex questions about payments innovation, digital money, AI and trust are being solved in Asia Pacific. Beng Kong Pee, Executive Vice President of the Singapore Economic Development Board, said the investment will create new high-value jobs for Singaporeans and bolster Singapore's role in developing innovative financial products in areas such as agentic commerce and quantum computing.

Partners and the BLOOM initiative

The teams at the global tech hubs in Paya Lebar Green will collaborate with academia, government, financial institutions and the fintech ecosystem, including AXS, DBS, DCS, FOMO Pay, Nium and StraitsX. Visa is also participating in the Monetary Authority of Singapore's BLOOM initiative (Borderless, Liquid, Open, Online, Multi-currency), which explores connecting traditional payment systems with stablecoin-based settlement rails. In October, the company named Nium as the first partner in a pilot to settle with regulated stablecoins backed by the US dollar and the euro, aiming to enable settlement seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays.

Visa, which operates in more than 200 countries and territories, will also showcase its work at the Singapore FinTech Festival, from November 18 to 20, 2026, at Singapore EXPO. The announcement reinforces Visa's bet on the global tech hubs the company plans to take from research in Singapore to its global network. The move adds to other technology investments concentrated in Singapore, such as Databricks, which opened its new headquarters in the country on November 4.
