An open repository is turning PC game crossovers into reproducible experiments. Universal Modder, published by Rehan Sheikh on GitHub under the MIT license, gathers instructions, tools and notes so coding agents can modify titles the user already owns. The best-documented case is Minecraft inside GTA V story mode.
It is not a single mixed executable. According to the project's own documentation and Numerama's report, both games run at the same time on the same PC. A Fabric mod in Minecraft and a ScriptHookV add-on with ReShade in GTA V exchange camera position, ground collision and some events over a local connection. Minecraft's color and depth enter the GTA frame, and TNT, arrows and fireworks can become explosions and gunfire on the other side.
What the author confirms
Sheikh, an engineer at fal, posted the experiment on September 30, 2026. He told Numerama he closed the Los Santos version in about two days of Claude Code sessions, with a human directing the work and handling the clicks the workflow reserves for people. The repository note describes Steam GTA V Legacy, build 3889, story mode only and with BattlEye off, alongside Minecraft Java with Fabric.
The repository also lists other experiments at different stages, such as Borderlands 3 weapons and movement in Borderlands 2 and an offline conversion of Counter-Strike 2 elements into Elden Ring. That shows the scope the author claims for the tool. It does not mean every mashup seen in a video has the same finish, or that it is ready for general installation.
The Red Dead clip is not the same case
A Red Dead Redemption 2 video with a Minecraft hotbar, TNT and weapons spread on X in early October and was treated by some posts as a code merge. Arkade noted on October 3 that there is no stable download or playable release date, and that public material does not detail the method used in that clip. It cannot be stated that it came from Universal Modder.
Why it matters
The editorial point is not the meme of Steve in Los Santos. It is the drop in time needed for a homemade crossover when an agent follows engine playbooks, file reading and in-game testing. The workflow described in coverage blocks publishing game files, decompiled code and leaked keys. Redistributing packages with protected content still runs into copyright.
Geekiki already recorded another branch of this wave: the AI-made Fallout: New York project went offline after a ZeniMax notice, and Activision took down a video tied to Modern Warfare 2. Those are separate events. What is public here is a modding kit with code and notes, not an official release or publisher authorization.
