TypeSafe AI announced it has raised $870 million in a Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Sequoia Capital, DCVC and angel investors. The valuation reached $7.5 billion.
The announcement came less than a month after the company exited stealth and launched Jev on September 15, 2026. According to the company, about one-third of Fortune 500 companies already use the model.
What is Jev
Unlike language models that generate text, Jev produces structured outputs: yes/no answers, selection from a list, or a confidence score. This eliminates formatting steps that applications usually need when receiving text from LLMs.
TypeSafe says the model processes requests in under 700 milliseconds, up to 200 times faster and up to 100 times cheaper than some frontier models on classification and decision tasks. The company uses a training approach it calls reinforcement learning for calibrated decisions.
Why it matters
Jev is part of a lineup called System One, focused on machine-native models that deliver calibrated decisions instead of text. The round reinforces market interest in specialized architectures for automation and software workflows, alongside large generative models.
Martin Casado of a16z joins the board. The company says the capital will go toward more System One models and enterprise features.
