Trophy Games buys Playrion from Paradox for €2.25m and takes Airport Simulator

Danish studio Trophy Games has agreed to buy 100% of French developer Playrion SASU from Paradox Interactive. The deal, announced Friday, September 25, 2026, includes an upfront payment of €2.25 million and a three-year revenue earn-out. Trophy adds Airport Simulator: First Class and Airlines Manager to its portfolio.

What happened?

It is the largest acquisition in Trophy Games history. About 30 Playrion employees — the Paris studio was founded in 2010 and bought by Paradox in 2020 — will join the Danish group. Closing is expected on September 30, 2026.

Trophy CEO Søren Gleie said Playrion had been on the radar for four years and was one of the company’s biggest competitors in mobile simulation and management. Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester framed the sale as a step to focus Paradox on strategy and management games for PC and consoles.

Why it matters

Beyond the live titles, Trophy wants to use Airport Simulator and its tech as the base for a new simulation series — the same playbook it used after buying Airline Manager 4 in 2021. Playrion’s annual revenue is around €4 million.

Trophy also raised 2026 revenue guidance from €20.1–22.4 million to €22.8–24.1 million. The earn-out is 9% of net revenue from Playrion’s games over the three years after closing.

What changes in practice

For players of Airport Simulator: First Class or Airlines Manager, little changes immediately: the games stay live under a new owner. For the market, Paradox trims mobile exposure and Trophy deepens its simulation pillar.
