The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launched on September 29, 2026 and quickly set the game's highest Steam concurrent peak. SteamDB logged about 120,975 players online at once.
What happened?
The previous Steam peak was 103,329 in January 2020, during the Netflix series boom. The 2015 launch sat near 92,000. The 2022 next-gen update was lower. The remaster beat all of those on day one.
CD Projekt Red marked the milestone on the official The Witcher account. The upgrade is free for existing owners and includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
Why it matters
The figure is Steam-only. GOG, Epic, Battle.net, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 are not counted. Even so, an 2015 RPG setting a new concurrency record eleven years later is rare. The remaster adds new textures, reworked lighting, path tracing on PC, tuned combat, a redesigned skill system and cross-platform mods.
In practice
Owners on PC and current consoles received the new build at no extra cost. AMD GPU issues at launch were later eased by an AMD driver. Songs of the Past remains slated for 2027 as separate DLC.
