The Witcher 3 Remastered launched on Tuesday and set a new Steam concurrent-player high for the CD Projekt Red RPG. SteamDB figures cited by IGN put the peak of The Witcher 3 Remastered at about 114,696 players, above the 103,329 recorded in January 2020 when the Netflix series debuted.
What happened?
The Witcher 3 Remastered is a free upgrade for existing owners on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. On Steam the previous day’s peak sat around 20,000 to 32,000 players. Hours after the patch, The Witcher 3 Remastered passed the 2020 record.
IGN notes the figure covers Steam only. GOG, Battle.net and consoles are extra. Early AMD GPU issues at the launch of The Witcher 3 Remastered were addressed with an AMD driver.
Why it matters
Steam owners of the base game also received Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. First-day reviews of The Witcher 3 Remastered were mostly positive. Analysts in the Polish press estimate around 3 million copies by the end of 2026.
Treat the Steam number as a PC snapshot, not a cross-platform total. Existing Steam owners only need the patch.
