CD Projekt Red confirmed on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 that The Witcher 3 Remastered is available now. The remaster is a free upgrade for owners on eligible platforms and brings the RPG natively to Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net for the first time.
The official note is on the CD Projekt Red site. On supported stores the remaster replaces the Complete Edition and includes both classic expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
What changed
The studio lists upgrades to visuals, performance and gameplay. PC gets Path Tracing. PlayStation 5 gets dedicated PS5 Pro support. The native Switch 2 build uses hardware features such as mouse, gyro and touch, according to official materials.
Other changes include revised combat, a reimagined skill system, overhauled animations, cross-platform mod support, armor transmog, an expanded photo mode and movement and monster-behavior tweaks.
Who gets the free upgrade
Owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S receive the remaster at no extra cost. Original Nintendo Switch owners can claim the native Switch 2 version for free.
New buyers can purchase The Witcher 3 Remastered on current storefronts. CDPR also launched the game on Battle.net with Blizzard and on the Microsoft Store as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
Size and timing
Most platforms had no preload because this is an update to an existing install. CDPR and specialist coverage put the package around 45 GB on Xbox. The global unlock followed Warsaw time (12:00 CEST).
What comes next
The remaster precedes Songs of the Past, the third Witcher 3 expansion planned for 2027. That expansion is not out yet.
