The Regreening demo Steam joins October Next Fest

The The Regreening demo Steam build is available now. Berlin debut studio Positive Impact Games and publisher ByteRockers’ Games announced the playable version on October 1, 2026, in time for this month’s Steam Next Fest. 4Gamer returned to the story this weekend, highlighting Japanese support.

What happened?

The Regreening is a cozy sim the makers call a soilpunk fairytale. Players control Viri, grow plants to rebuild ecosystems, recycle abandoned materials and meet spirits inspired by Baltic folklore. As the land recovers, wildlife returns.

The September 30 release, dated in Berlin, says the game already had more than 55,000 Steam wishlists before the demo. The public build is the first wide entry point and is also part of Steam Next Fest in October 2026. No final release date was given in that announcement.

Why it matters

Next Fest is the shop window where indie demos fight for real wishlists. Clearing 55,000 before the demo is a sign of interest, not confirmed quality: the public test is what will show whether planting, recycling and watching a biome return holds attention.

The theme also sits outside the usual combat cycle. Instead of clearing a hostile map, the pitch is restoring a deserted world. 4Gamer’s note on Japanese support suggests the demo is not English-only, which helps Asian players in the same festival.

What changes in practice?

Anyone who wants to try it can search for the The Regreening demo on Steam and download the current build. The full game still has no date. What can be judged now is the pace of restoration, the tone of the spirits and whether the sim feels like a relaxing hobby or a thin system.
