STRANGER THAN HEAVEN shows 1943 Osaka in new RGG gameplay

SEGA and RGG Studio have released a new gameplay video for STRANGER THAN HEAVEN focused on Minami, Osaka, in 1943. It is one of five cities and eras in the action-adventure saga that spans 50 years.

What does the video show?

The footage is titled “1943 Minami, Osaka In-Depth Look” and zooms in on one setting instead of repeating the announcement trailer. Gematsu, which covered the release, describes the clip as a closer look at that era. It comes from the same publisher and studio behind Like a Dragon and the Yakuza series.

STRANGER THAN HEAVEN has been presented as a saga in which the player moves across decades and cities. Osaka in 1943 is one of those stops. The new cut is meant to show how that slice of the story fits before the launch window.

When does it launch, and on which platforms?

The game is set for January 15, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. It will also be available on Game Pass. The Steam page is already live as app 4260840.

Why it matters

RGG Studio often reveals cities and eras in pieces, and each video helps show the scale of the campaign. STRANGER THAN HEAVEN is not a single Yakuza chapter: the pitch is an adventure covering half a century. Seeing 1943 Osaka makes it clearer that the game mixes periods, not only a present-day district.

This video does not add a price, editions, or a locked list of the other four cities. What is confirmed is the date, the platforms, Game Pass, and this 1943 segment.
