Star Wars Galactic Racer launches on October 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, on Steam and the Epic Games Store. It is the first game from Fuse Games, a studio founded in 2023 by Criterion veterans behind Burnout and Need for Speed, published by Secret Mode with Lucasfilm Games.
What happened?
The official site confirms the date with “Coming October 6, 2026,” and Steam lists the same unlock day for Star Wars Galactic Racer. The standard edition is $59.99. Deluxe, at $79.99, includes three exclusive vehicles, three arcade events, a digital art book and livery and banner packs. A physical Collector’s Edition costs $159.99 and adds a Kor Sarun: Darc X landspeeder model, a banner and patches.
Pre-orders include a bonus livery colored by store and a multiplayer banner background. PC store guides ask for Windows 10, a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB of RAM, an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT and 50 GB of SSD space. The PS5 version carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. Boxed copies ship with Plaion.
Why it matters
Star Wars Galactic Racer is not a remake of Episode I: Racer. The official site and Steam place the player in the Outer Rim after the Empire falls, in an unsanctioned league bankrolled by syndicates. There is no Force and no prophecy: the pitch is skill, risk and reward.
Repulsorcraft classes include skim speeder, speeder bike, landspeeder and podracer, each with its own physics. Planets on the site include Tatooine, Jakku, Ando Prime, Derven Acos, Lantaana and Sentinel I. The 21-track score is by Gordy Haab and releases the same day. The main theme is already out as a single.
What changes in practice
Console players choose PS5 or Xbox Series. There is no announced Switch 2 or last-gen version. A Steam purchase does not carry to Epic. The run-based format on Steam points to short sessions with rising risk, closer to a modern arcade than a season simulator.
The exact unlock hour is not on the official site. Store listings cited by specialist outlets point to about 9:00 UTC, 6:00 a.m. in Brasília, but that still depends on each storefront. Sources: official site and Steam.
