Nintendo released the free Star Fox Switch 2 version 1.2.0 update on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The Velan Studios remake adds three Battle Mode maps, extra items and split-screen for up to four players on one console.
Battle Mode
The new stages are Katina, Sector X and Venom. Nintendo says they have a slightly higher chance in online random matches until October 19 at 4:59 p.m. Japan time.
Split-screen supports up to four players on one Switch 2 if each has a controller. Joy-Con 2 and Joy-Con work in horizontal grip in that mode. Teams can also join online random matches via split-screen.
Campaign and Nintendo Music
The patch adds a confirmation when abandoning a campaign after a game over, improves boss damage feedback and fixes freezes in Corneria, Aquas, Area 6, Titania and Venom. Online lobbies no longer disband when the host leaves.
The full soundtrack also arrived on Nintendo Music as new orchestral arrangements, according to Nintendo.
