Squadron 42 on Steam can now be added to the wishlist. Cloud Imperium Games has opened the official page for the Star Citizen single-player campaign, with a planned release in the second quarter of 2027.
What happened?
Squadron 42, the single-player campaign set in the Star Citizen universe, is now available for wishlisting on Valve’s platform. The announcement was accompanied by the “The Oath” trailer, showcasing cinematics with the star-studded cast and gameplay snippets of space combat and first-person action. The game has been in development since 2014 and was previously delayed to avoid competing with GTA 6’s launch.
Why does this matter?
After more than a decade of development and hundreds of millions raised through crowdfunding, the opening of the Squadron 42 Steam page is a concrete sign that the project is closer to launch. The cast includes Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Henry Cavill, Ben Mendelsohn and other major names, captured through full performance capture.
What changes in practice?
The published minimum requirements are relatively accessible: Windows 11, a quad-core CPU (Intel i7 Sandy Bridge or later / AMD Bulldozer or later), 16 GB of RAM, a GPU with 8 GB of VRAM and 150 GB of free space. No exact date or price has been announced yet. Players can wishlist Squadron 42 on Steam and follow the official site.
