Sony CES 2027 will go on without the company: Sony Group confirmed it will not take a booth in Las Vegas in January. A spokesperson told Bloomberg that the parent firm and affiliates are sitting it out, ending a run that started in 1967.
What happened
In January 2026 Sony already lacked its own hall. Sony Honda Mobility showed the Afeela EV and a PlayStation space. That car venture is over. For Sony CES 2027, the whole group stays home.
Sony told Bloomberg it judges events by business priorities. The center of gravity is entertainment — games, anime, film and music — plus IP and creator tools. Nikkei and Sankei reported the same decision on Monday, 28 September 2026. Sony will keep talking to the Consumer Technology Association but did not promise a 2028 return.
Why it matters for PlayStation
CES was never the main PlayStation stage. It was still a hardware weather vane. Without a booth, a possible PlayStation 6 reveal in 2027 will not happen in Las Vegas. Gaming peripherals continue. The old ritual of TVs and gadgets in the same hall does not. Bravia already moved to TCL.
