Aspyr has officially announced DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered, an updated version of the 2004 action-adventure game based on the DreamWorks film. The title arrives on November 10, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Switch and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), priced at $29.99.
The original launched in May 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and PC. The remaster features rebuilt graphics with better textures, enhanced UI, 4K resolution and improved cutscenes. New features include Photo Mode for captures and Cheat Mode to ease gameplay.
Co-op and nostalgia
The game supports up to four players in local, online or mixed co-op. Players can control characters such as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and others, swapping heroes at any time to use unique abilities against enemies and bosses. Levels recreate iconic moments from the film, from Shrek’s swamp to the kingdom of Far Far Away.
The announcement trailer parodies the cinematic style of GTA VI marketing, generating fun comments online. The launch occurs nine days before GTA VI (November 19).
Aspyr, known for ports and remasters of franchises like The Lord of the Rings, is behind the project. The original 2004 game’s creator, Joby Otero, previously commented that he was not invited to participate in the remaster but expressed satisfaction at seeing the title return.
