Selaco Chapter 2 will arrive on November 13. Altered Orbit Studios announced on October 30 that Selaco: The Machines of War will arrive as a free update for owners of the Steam Early Access game, almost two and a half years after its initial launch in May 2024.
The new chapter, the second of three planned, adds 19 new campaign maps, estimated at 6 to 8 hours of additional content, according to the developer. The story digs into the backgrounds of the game's two factions and puts Dawn Collins, captain of ACE Security, in the sights of a relentless machine that hunts her through faster, more direct levels than those in the first chapter.
What changes in gameplay
New enemies include Skirmishers, Tanks and Incinerators, while new weapons include a minigun, a heavy machine gun that fires explosive rounds and a jetpack. Heavy weapons found in the field can be used until their ammunition runs out and then discarded, and the arsenal gains deployables such as Sentinel Drones, mini-turrets and mobile cover.
Enemy AI has been rewritten almost from scratch, with revised tactics, decision-making and pathing, plus a patrol system that lets players choose when to start a fight. Chapter 1 also gets a visual pass, with reworked lighting, improved set pieces and new surprises, and each weapon will be able to carry two kits at once, swappable freely in combat.
Watch out for old saves
Because of the scale of the changes, current saves will not be compatible with the update. Players who have finished the original campaign can jump straight into the Chapter 2 maps, although the developer recommends playing from the start to enjoy the revised version. Those still mid-campaign can finish before November 13, roll back to the previous build through Steam's beta feature, or pause and restart later. Weapon kits already unlocked will be preserved.
The team says full patch notes and a trailer will be released at launch. Until then, the message is clear: Chapter 2 is not a small content pack, but the step that brings Selaco closer to the complete game the studio planned since Early Access.
