Jagex has set RuneScape Reignited for December 2. It is not RS4, the new Unreal Engine MMORPG revealed at the same RuneFest 2026. Reignited is a permanent character type inside the current RuneScape, with its own economy and hiscores and no paid progression.
In the official blog, the company describes the mode as a shared fresh start after a year of restoring the game. Treasure Hunter left in January 2026. At launch, Jagex says there will be no integrity-breaking microtransaction items. Reignited characters can buy cosmetics in the marketplace, but they will not have access to Radiant stars.
What changes in practice
Veterans and Reignited characters share worlds, in the same way Ironman already does. They cannot trade with each other, they do not use the same Grand Exchange, and they do not enter the same boss instance. They can chat and join the same clan or homestead. A character cannot be converted from one type to the other. Jagex says there is no set plan to merge the two economies.
For the first ten days, December 2 through December 12, every Reignited character gets free access to members’ content. After that, the type requires its own membership. The same update brings the Adventure Guide and the next step of the Remastered Journey. The Hall of Legends is meant to record world-firsts again, with a permanent statue for whoever earns one.
What Jagex has not detailed yet
The company says it will explain anti-bot rules and the ban on gold swapping into or out of Reignited before December. It also promises more on the Adventure Guide and the remastered content in the coming weeks. The official blog post is dated October 3; specialist coverage, including Eurogamer, ran on October 4.
