In a Bloomberg interview about GTA 6 development, Rockstar executives said the studio's next game should not take as long as the gap since Red Dead Redemption 2. GTA 6 arrives in November.
What the leads said
Phil Hooker, co-head of development, stated: "The engine, the tools and the team we’ve built during this project will allow us to do things more quickly. I feel confident that we can build on top of this and go more sideways than upwards to build more compelling content."
Aaron Garbut added: "We foundationally changed a lot of stuff on this project. But now it’s done, and we’re not going to rip it apart."
GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's last major single-player release was Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
Context
Bloomberg compares the situation to GTA Vice City, which released one year after GTA 3 thanks to prior work. There is no suggestion the next title will arrive that quickly. Rockstar has not confirmed what follows GTA 6.
