Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts arrived on October 8, 2026, the same day the Triple-i Initiative showcase packed dozens of announcements from independent and mid-size studios. The expansion, announced by Gearbox and 2K, pushes players deeper into the cult of N'Kuhana on Petrichor V.
What happened?
Triple-i Initiative aired on Thursday, October 8, at 9 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. in Brasília), with about 45 minutes of trailers, no host and no ad breaks. IGN described the October edition as a block of roughly 40 announcements, including eight new game reveals. Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts was the item with immediate effect for people who already own the game.
Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts is the fourth DLC for Gearbox's roguelike. According to the Gearbox Publishing overview reported by Gematsu, the expansion sends players into new regions of Petrichor V, with new enemies and powers the base game did not offer. Named stages include the return of Damp Caverns, the villages of Tenebrous Quagmire and the sacred ground of The Lurid Basilica.
Two new playable survivors join the roster: Acolyte and Enforcer. The expansion also adds curses and trials in three flavors — Winnowings of Survival, Predation and Mortality — with a single timer shared across trials. Players choose between another attempt or returning to the run with the power already collected. Gearbox posted on X that the content is available now and linked the Steam page. The base game remains on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Why it matters
Triple-i works as a stage for games that do not fit a first-party Direct. This edition also saw MINTROCKET reveal a Dave the Diver crossover DLC with Subnautica 2, set for early 2027 on Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and the Epic Games Store. The pitch brings Subnautica 2's alien oceans into Dave's Blue Hole. Insider Gaming notes that Dave the Diver has passed 10 million copies since early access in October 2022.
- Among Us Story: On Guard is dated February 17, 2027, on Steam, Switch, Switch 2 and mobile. It is a standalone detective narrative, separate from the original multiplayer game.
- Machinarium 2, from Amanita Design, was revealed. Josef and Berta return to a valley settled by two robot tribes running short of power. Players switch between both heroes. Tomáš Dvořák (Floex) returns for the score. Wishlists are open on Steam.
- Brotato: Primal Dread launches November 2, 2026 on PC, with consoles in early 2027.
- Militsioner received its first public Steam demo, covering the first act and the colossal policeman.
What changes in practice?
Anyone already playing Risk of Rain 2 can enter Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed Concepts now. The DLC price was not detailed in the announcements used here; the Steam page is the place to check. Most of the rest of the showcase lands in 2027: the Dave the Diver crossover, Among Us Story and the Machinarium sequel have windows, not exact days.
